Two named Contra Costa Teachers of the Year, with county teachers honored at annual gala

Contra Costa County celebrated extraordinary leadership and dedication in public education by announcing its 2026 Teachers of the Year at the annual county honors gala held in Concord.

The annual ceremony recognized exceptional teachers nominated by school districts across the county, honoring their contributions to instructional excellence, student mentorship, and community engagement. Two educators were selected as Contra Costa County Teachers of the Year and will advance to represent the county in the California Teacher of the Year program.

District superintendents, school board trustees, fellow educators, and community leaders attended the celebration to applaud the honorees. Speakers commended the teachers for fostering inclusive learning environments, introducing creative curricula, and supporting student well-being both inside and outside the classroom.

The event spotlighted the vital role educators play in preparing students for academic and personal success. Each honored teacher received formal commendations from county officials along with community accolades honoring their service to local schools.
