Advertising and editorial coverage

Advertisements are commercial placements and are labeled as advertisements. An advertising purchase does not determine a news article’s conclusions, guarantee coverage or turn existing reporting into paid content.

Sponsored and partner material

Material commissioned or supported by a commercial partner must carry a visible Sponsored, Advertisement or Partner content label and a disclosure identifying the relationship. It must not present itself as independent reporting. Paid links must also be identified for search systems.

Press releases

A press release represents its issuing organization. Reproduced releases must be labeled. Reporting that uses a release as a source should attribute it and distinguish the organization’s claims from independently established facts.
